About Roof Repair of Grand Rapids

An established West Michigan roofing and exterior contractor network. Built on 30+ years of regional craftsmanship, the kind that knows what a Grand Rapids roof needs to survive a real Michigan winter.

The Operation

What we are, and what we are not.

Roof Repair of Grand Rapids operates as a single front door for West Michigan homeowners and property managers. Behind that front door is a network of licensed Michigan contractors with multi-decade local track records, including teams that have been refreshing properties across the region since 1994.

We are not a national franchise. We are not a call center routing your job to whichever crew has an opening 200 miles away. We are a local operation that vets the contractors going on your roof, coordinates the project from the first phone call through the final inspection, and stands behind the work after the crew leaves.

The reason we exist as a single point of contact: most West Michigan roofing projects involve more than just a roof. The wind that tears off ridge cap also exposes chimney flashing failures. The ice dam that leaks through the eaves also reveals the under-insulated attic that caused the dam. The full replacement that needed permitting also needed siding work where the gutters pulled away. Coordinating that as one project, with one consultant from start to finish, is what we do.

“The crew showed up when they said they would, did the work the way the estimate described, and cleaned up so well I could not tell where the dumpster had been parked. The roof has held through three Michigan winters now, and they responded inside an hour the one time I called with a question.”

What every job includes.

Why Local Matters

Roofing is not a national trade.

The same architectural shingle that makes 25 to 30 years in a milder climate often shows granular loss and edge curl by year 18 to 22 in West Michigan. The reason is freeze-thaw cycling. The National Weather Service Grand Rapids forecast office tracks 40 to 60 measurable freeze-thaw days per winter, the cycle that pulls flashing apart and lifts shingle adhesive over time. The lake-effect snow band that runs from Holland up through Muskegon piles localized snow loads exceeding national residential design averages.

What that means in practice: a roofing crew based outside of Michigan installing a roof on a Walker home is not going to flash the chimney for a January thaw the way a local crew will. Underlayment selection, ice and water shield coverage, ventilation calculations, and ridge vent placement all need to be tuned for the actual climate. We hire and partner only with contractors who have lived through enough West Michigan winters to install accordingly.

Community

Where the long-term reputation comes from.

The roofing trade in West Michigan is built on long-term reputation, not flashy marketing. The way we earn that reputation is by being a real participant in the community we work in. We partner with Kids’ Food Basket and other West Michigan nonprofits as part of how we operate, and we hire contractors and crews that live in the same neighborhoods they install roofs in.

That is not a marketing line. It is the practical reason a homeowner in Heritage Hill, Eastown, or Kentwood can ask a neighbor whether the work held up, and get a real answer.
