Vinyl, fiber-cement, and engineered-wood siding. Repair, replacement, and full re-skin. R-value upgrades behind siding are a real win on older West Michigan homes.

Most West Michigan homes built before 1980 have wall insulation that falls short of current standards (and sometimes none at all). Re-siding gives you a window to fix that without tearing into your interior walls.
The standard upgrade we install during a full re-side is rigid foam board (1/2 inch to 1 inch) over the existing sheathing, then siding installed over the foam. That adds R-3 to R-6 to your wall assembly, typically pays for itself within 8 to 12 years through heating and cooling savings, and dramatically reduces drafts in older homes.
If you are already paying for new siding, the marginal cost of adding insulation behind it is small relative to the benefit. We always include this option in the written estimate so you can decide.
