When to Replace Windows
The Michigan-specific signals.
Three patterns drive most West Michigan window replacement calls:
- Visible failure. Fogging between panes (means the seal failed, the inert gas leaked out, R-value is gone), rotted frames, won't close properly. Replacement is non-optional at this point.
- Energy bills creeping up. If your heating bills have climbed faster than utility rate increases over a few years and the windows are 25+ years old, the windows are usually a major contributor.
- Replacing siding anyway. Coordinate the two projects. Re-installing trim around old windows after new siding goes on is wasted work if those windows will need replacement in 5 years.
